Il Portunus spp, noto anche come granchio blu, è un crostaceo decapode appartenente alla famiglia Portunidae.
Le zampe sono lunghe, mentre le chele sono lunghe circa il doppio del carapace. Le zampe posteriori sono appiattite come nelle granceole. Il colore del maschio è verde oliva con macchie biancastre sulla superficie, soprattutto anteriore e posteriore; le femmine, presentano un colore rosso bruno sulle chele invece del blu presente nei maschi.
Il carapace ha una lunghezza massima di 7 cm.

Portunus spp ., also known as the blue crab, is a decapod crustacean belonging to the family Portunidae.
The legs are long, while the claws are about twice as long as the carapace. The hind legs are flattened, like those of mud crabs. The male is olive green with whitish spots on the surface, especially on the front and back; the females have a reddish-brown color on the claws instead of the blue found in the males.
Its carapace has a maximum length of 7 cm.
